Your tax dollars pay for a subscription to a geneology program located in the Geneology section of the Bartlesville Public Library. It is a subscription to Ancestry Library Edition. The Bartlesville Examiner Enterprise reported this wonderful availability in the Wednesday, September 24, 2008, edition. According to the article, you can access this program via two workstations in the Family History Library (the Geneology section). It has a wealth of information that includes actual "images of WWI, WWII , Korea, and Civil War military and enlistment documents." (paragaph 4). It is nice to know that Washington County taxpayers have resources, such as the Public Library, where our taxes can be pooled together to pay for these subscriptions. If we, as taxpayers, would have to individually subscribe to these subscriptions, it would cost us a lot more money. This is a great example of our tax dollars being used wisely. To find out more information, you can contact the Library at 338-4166 or 338-4167. |
